The Invocation of Truth

From the pages of Arkane Mysterium: A Study of Strange Majicks Through the Ages:
And of course, among these spells, one of the most disturbing to ever be recorded is The Invocation of Truth, or "God's True Sight". While this might evoke the image of such spells that those of the faith employ, for weeding out the unwilful and faithless, it couldn't be further from it. The Invocation does not compel the voice or heart, rather it compels the very essence of a person.   In Markabial's work on fundamentals of Physick, he postulates that our bodies are not composed of energy with a flesh covering, as some would believe. Rather, he suggests that we are made of many physical elements, working in a complex harmony to locomote our bodies, energies our souls and enervate our minds. It is still unproven, and there are many places where his arguments become grand or overreaching. (For more information, see my other work "Theories of the Baser World", now in it's second scribing)   What is interesting about Markabial's work, is it seems that the theory of the spell works upon this same principal of the way we are composed. An unverified anecdote about the spell's effects suggests that those under it's enchantment would quickly become "disassembled, collapsing into a pile of sand". Another such account speaks to seeing the elements themselves made manifest from someone's form. If Markabial's work is to be believed, and this spell could truly be cast, then it would seem we are indeed made of elemental components. This theory also rings true with those who believe in Elemental Foundationalism (Also explored in TotBW, available for commission soon).   Here, I have gathered the suggested effects and components of the spell, such that one might draw their own conclusions about the majickal energies at play and how they might be employed: Material: 1 Cracked Diamond (Of comparable size and quality to a whole diamond worth at least 1000 Cliqueders) 1 Phial of black sand 1 phial of honey Somatic: The honey must be smeared across the diamond, then smothered in the sand. The Diamond is then crushed with the weight of the spell. Verbal: A statement of belief in the base elements of nature   Effects: The force of the spell originates from the caster, bearing it's effect upon any natural creature or object in a small area (In practice this would probably be about 10-15 feet in radius). Each creature must resist with a force of their own willpower to remain whole, perhaps only suffering minor losses of matter if they succeed, but becoming disintegrated upon failure. The failing parties are reduced to a pile of sand (or various elements, depending on the account).   As you can see, the horrifying implications are, that the affected parties might still feel themselves being dismantled. There is nothing to be said for unconsciousness or death. As a magus of repute, it is my strong and fervent recommendation that such a spell not be practiced, merely studied. There can be much learned from dark majicks such as these, but nothing gained from using them.
