Iudex
The Judge Of Souls
Iudex: The God of Judgement, Souls, Oaths, and the Afterlife.
Iudex and Persephone both serve as judges for the newly departed, with Persephone having the authority to occasionally override Iudex's decisions. Nonetheless, Iudex's judgments are typically undisputed. Iudex's primary responsibility is to evaluate whether mortals deserve a place in paradise with their gods, or if they should be sent to the underworld based on their actions in life. Regardless of their perceived moral standing in the mortal realm, Iudex judges every soul fairly and objectively. Using a scale, Iudex weighs the soul to determine its fate in the afterlife. If the soul weighs more than a feather, it is deemed corrupt and quickly dispatched to the underworld or one of the nine planes of hell. Conversely, if the soul weighs less than a feather, it is considered worthy and sent to the appropriate gods' paradise.
In addition to using the scale to weigh the soul, Iudex also considers the individual's intentions and actions during their lifetime. Iudex assesses the impact of the person's choices and their effects on the people and the world around them. Thus, Iudex's judgment goes beyond a mere tally of good versus evil deeds, as it takes into account the broader context of the person's life.
Furthermore, Iudex is impartial and unbiased in their judgments, ensuring that every soul is judged based solely on their own merits. This fairness and objectivity are critical, as it ensures that every soul is held accountable for their actions and is treated justly
