Ishmaltal
Once was a hilly grassland region that was sunny and hot year-round, with a few mountains and forests scattered about. There was also, of course, the tree of origin, or Ishmaltal, that stood tall near the river that divides the region. This was all before the collapse, and now the tree is destroyed, and the land has now turned into a harsh forever winter landscape. Few forests remain.
Geography
It was once a hilly grassland, with mountains scattered about, and forests covered the east and west of the land. After the collapse, the landscape has frozen over.
Ecosystem
Due to the lands being frozen, every day (especially at night) is cold, and vegetation is scarce. Animals would have to have a way of protecting themselves from the cold (fur, going out at certain times, etc).
Localized Phenomena
During the times when it was supposed to be winter, massive blizzard storms wreak havoc on the region, throwing snow everywhere and lightning strikes happening frequently.
