Kipchak

Kipchak is the umbrella-term for the various languages and dialects of the east-southern tribes who used to inhabit the lands close to the 'east-end-of-the-world'. In the far south-east of the Alliance territory, still weeks of travel away from Moscow, the plains of Khas'schha stretch far into the eastern phenomena. Khas'schha is a rough and barren place, with flatlands, rocks, taiga & steppe, hills deltas mountains and deserts. Some might call it bleak, others utterly savage, but it is one of the most precious and best guarded territories of the Alliance because of its natural - or rather unnatural - resources. Khas'schha is the number one oil reservoir of the nation with 86% of all mining activities and operations. It is inhabited by tribes of various ethnic groups, with rather dark-skinned, mongolic people being the predominant native population. Power dynamics in the area were defined by nomadic tribes of gatherers and scavengers adjusting their mobile settlements according to the roaming patterns of their livestock. Half-wild breeds of horses, cattle, goats and deer in large enough numbers to support small clans were the predominant food source of the tribes who were then exploited by bigger, more aggressive raiding parties from the far east. While similar in ethnic features, visually, the Kipchak people differ from the Khalkhan people by height; usually a bit taller and slimmer in appearance. Khas'schhan's settlers are approne to deformities due to the living conditions; they live in territories heavily influenced by Aether gas and oil, so phenomena are common and people are accustomed to their danger and presence. Many of them are owls or have the third eye, although it is a dangerous condition to have in such an environment. Children who display such questionable talent are usually taken under the wing of experienced adults who practice a form of crude and savage hedge-magic to ward their sould against the 'devild from the ground'.Mutations and deformities range from color mutations which are very common to slightly damaged physique; but very rarely reaches a level of cancerous or crippling deformities. It is to be assumed that all genes causing live-threatening mutations have died out in the last couple of generations. The subdued clans were used to being forced to move around, being robbed, killed and often enslaved by the eastern clanners; but then the Alliance breached into Khas'schha by force and put an end to these power dynamics. Slavery is forbidden and shunned in Alliance doctrine and when assimilating the territory, the aggressors from the east were driven out of the fertile oil plains and scattered in the winds. Due to the Aether gas and oil in the ground the plains are ridden with phenomena, but Alliance technology allowed to establish more or less stable mining facilities for which they did recruit workers from the population of rather peaceful settlers; fiercely protecting them from the raiding clans who had nothing to oppose the Ally troops' superior technology.    The savage eastern tribes whose numbers are dwindling speak a different dialect of which they claim their warrior ancestory brought it from beyond the east-end-of-the-world; it is called Khalkha.

Writing System

It has its own script originally but efforts have been made to unify it in Ally letters.

Phonology

The peaceful tribes strive under Alliance rule and Kipchak with it's harmonic vowels and throaty consonants is still spoken by the majority of oilfield workers.
