Tokugawa Mountains

The soaring Tokugawa Mountains, home of the dwarves and the aarakocra. At the North-Western most point on the island you might expect some frigid arctic wastes, but most of the area is all but frigid, save for the heights of the mountains, by far the coldest part of the island. We instead find sweltering conditions, with valleys filled with fertile semi-tropical forests, thousands of natural hot springs, and creatures of all sorts of tropical varieties. Despite all this, these mountains are mostly disconnected from the main Edo Empire, probably due to the other races being so firm about their homeland.

Fauna & Flora

Flora The majority of the flora is found in the lower reaches of the mountains, where the cold gives way to large valleys filled with lucious, semi tropical, forest. All sorts of trees, bushes, fungi, and more can be found in these regions, including Hardroot, indicating just how fertile these regions are. Outside of the valleys, fungi (particularly lichen) grow all across the mountains, sometimes in large concentration due to the passing of a mycanoid.   Fauna Most of the animal life is in the valleys, consisting of all sorts of creatures, many of which might be found in jungles. Monkeys, snakes, capybaras, and more can be found in these forested valley regions. As for outside of the valleys, the majority of animal life is that of birds and mice. Them mice feed on mountain lichen and the birds feed on the mice. Additionally, aarakocras also inhabit the upper mountains, dwarves inhabit underground cities, and humans occasionally make settlements within the mountains as well.
