Arofyr Cehiveln, Scion of Debauchery
Arofyr Cehiveln is the Scion of Debauchery. He is a half-elf who was raised by dwarves in the mountains of modern-day Sarraruki. Never quite fitting in within the stodgy confines of dwarven society, Arofyr turned to adventuring and raucous partying to pass the time and feed his insatiable appetite for excitement.
Arofyr never planned to become a Scion, but when a drunk friend challenged him to go into a local temple of Sielach and challenge the Deity of Celebration to a drinking contest, an equally inebriated Arofyr accepted, forgetting that only two other mortals had ever survived a night of drinking with the Duchess of Trumpets. Another story claims that he was prompted to take the test after his advances had been rejected by the Scion of Lust, Chathi herself.
Legends abound regarding what happened in that temple, but no one knows the truth save for Sielach. Regardless, after three days had passed, the sellsword—to everyone's surprise, including his own—emerged as a Scion. He could not remember how he had survived the three-day bender (or if he even had survived), but continued as a divine being in much the same way as he had when he was a mortal: doing whatever he wanted, fighting for just causes, and enjoying the drink.
Arofyr Cehiveln is an unassuming Scion, and appears much as he did before his apotheosis - a bronze-skinned half-elf man wearing chainmail and holding a tankard of ale in one hand, sometimes accompanied by a rapier in the other. He is often shown in combat against hosts of devils, and is sometimes depicted wearing broken shackles, representing his pursuit of freedom for both body and mind.
He holds freedom and adventure in high regard, and opposes tyranny and oppression on principle. He willingly accepts challenges when they are issued, although not as a point of honor; he sees no shame in retreating when necessary. One instance of note is the fall of the devil Shagozem, who grew infuriated with Arofyr during a duel of dares, and attacked—only to be defeated—at the hands of the Scion of Debauchery.
