Castigator, Scion of Torture
Castigator is the Scion of Torture. Blood Steel was a warforged soldier that saw the front lines during the War of Souls. It was during these horrific battles between gargantuan beings of unimaginable power that he was gifted with a purity of purpose - a vision of the truth of the world. Those who fought and lived through the worst of the conflicts were made stronger by their suffering and appreciated the life they had won with their tears and blood; while those who followed or cowered safely behind walls of stone and steel were weak and spoiled creatures unable to cherish the gift of peace.
After the wars ended and the First Age of the Deities began in earnest, he formed a powerful criminal organization that ruled through cruelty and bloodshed. While most found him to be a mindless killer with only profits and power in mind, those closest to him knew he chose his victims very carefully. He would put thousands through trials that would break them irrevocably or form them into something truly divine.
Indeed, many of those who survived his tortures and machinations went on to become great men and women. Driven by vengeance or hope, they ascended to great heights. Unfortunately, the very thing that he created is what would be his undoing. Those who had once stood by his side and shared his vision for perfection through pain turned to greed and profit. His closest advisors betrayed and killed Blood Steel, taking over his operation and turning into a mockery of its former glory. Coincidentally, all involved perished within a decade of his death.
Taking the name of Castigator in the wake of his apotheosis, when the warforged scion appears to mortals, it is in the form a great clockwork dark steel beast whose gears and cogs are greased with blood. Terrible appendages that end with torture implements snap to and fro with the terrible sounds of scraping metal. His blessing is shown as powerful ritual scarring that often grants divine powers. To anger him is to suffer a long agonizing death.
