Gaelani

The secret language of the Song of Edras; it consists of both a spoken language of metaphors, allegories, and analogies, and a system of symbols that can be carved into wood or stone to leave messages or mark areas. Gaelani is a closely guarded secret of the Song and various practitioners of Natural Magic - so much so that it is said entire villages have been swallowed up in unnatural earthquakes or unexpected floods to keep it from being learned by outsiders. Written Gaelani is symbolic in nature, depicting things in nature to convey a message; for example, ‘There is food to the north’ might be written as ‘deer + north + roots’.
