Okarz the Invincible, Scion of Glory

Okarz the Invincible is the Scion of Glory. When Okarz was a child, the settlement that his hobgoblin clan lived in was raided by Culled and utterly decimated. As he was young and potentially useful, he was taken as a slave and brought back to the cullic kingdom of Naledzir.   Initially used for menial tasks and manual labor, it did not take long for Okarz's owners to recognize his latent talents for battle and brutality. Even in simple squabbles he got in with other slave children or the way that he defended himself when faced with corporal punishment, it was clear that Okarz could be trained to be a more than capable warrior. And so trained he was.   Enrolled as a trainee in the gladiatorial arena for Naledzir, Okarz underwent nearly a decade of savage lessons in the arts of combat before finally winning the right to compete as a slave-gladiator for his owners. In his first performance (for what is combat if not the most ancient of performance arts?) one thing was immediately made clear to the young hobgoblin - in the sand of the arena he was not a slave, but a warrior competing for gold and glory. For the first time since his enslavement, Okarz felt at home.   It was in the quiet hours of that evening, alone in his cage, that Okarz' eyes were opened and the echoes of the Shattering were awakened in him by the quiet voice of Sielach. He had found not only a home, but also a calling.   In the following years Okarz would become such a dominant force in the gladiatorial arenas of Edras that he would be granted the title of Okarz the Invincible, and after reigning undefeated in multiple kingdoms across the continent would even be granted his freedom. Older and freer, but no less capable, Okarz sought only to cement his legacy as the greatest gladiator alive - a feat that he accomplished when the Scion of Bravery chose to take mortal form and challenge the hobgoblin champion in the sands of the arena.   Tales tell of a glorious bout, mythic in both the skill and the brutality displayed. In the end, Okarz stood tall over the Scion of Bravery, who in recognition of his defeat ceded his divinity to Okarz, the newly elevated Scion of Glory.   The former Scion, immortal but no longer divine, is rumored to still wander Edras - training warriors in the hopes of one day training the Scion who will replace Okarz.
