Voyage, Scion of Flight
Voyage is the Scion of Flight. Her apotheosis occured in 2970 AS when her experimental airship, the Halcyon, was lost in the far reaches of the Sea of Night during an attempt to circumnavigate Edras. The third daughter of one of the Ravens leading Aressea’s Diet of Ravens, Voyage was a prodigy of engineering and mathematics even at a young age and was accepted to the prestigious Aressean Academy of Engineering at the age of seven. Although she excelled at her studies, quickly graduating to the highest student ranks, she was plagued by a restless heart and a mischievous streak.
When she was sixteen years old, Voyage was expelled from the academy for missing classes, stealing rare textbooks that were beyond her current level of study, and constantly pronouncing her insane theories surrounding the construction of flying ships; her expulsion brought shame on her family and lead to her being exiled from their estates. Legend states that Voyage sold the only family heirlooms she possessed to bribe a High Priest of Oolene to open a portal to Sanctum for her, where she is said to have gone and stolen the secret to building airships from Oolene’s court itself.
Returning to Edras, Voyage spent the next ten years building the prototype for the first airship, which she eventually revealed at a meeting of the Diet of Ravens. She was immediately restored to her previous status as a child of one of the Ravens and was put in charge of retrofitting Aressea’s shipyards to build airships.
After her death, the Aressean Academy of Aeronautics was founded in her honor. Voyage doesn’t appear often in temples, preferring to materialize near shrines to Oolene that rest at high altitudes or dangerous places. She is known to answer the calls of truly devout airships pilots in times of great need, sometimes even arriving to save the day at the helm of her lost airship, the Halcyon.
She appears as an older Tiefling woman, her hair greying, but still beautiful, decked out in the flight leathers of an airship captain and wearing a pair of tinted brass goggles just below her horns. Her advent is always accompany by strong winds that whip the tails of her long coat around her legs and perpetually keep her feet just a few inches above the ground.
