The Bounty Hunters' Guild

In the vast expanse of the Edrazion galaxy, the Bounty Hunters' Guild stands as an eminent organization, regulating the complex and perilous profession of bounty hunting across star systems. Founded centuries ago, the Guild has evolved into a galaxy-wide entity with a reach extending to every corner of the cosmos, ensuring the legality and legitimacy of the bounty hunting trade.

Organizational Structure

The Bounty Hunters' Guild operates under a hierarchical structure, with seasoned and experienced hunters holding prominent positions. At the apex of the organization sits the Grand Master, an esteemed and reclusive figure whose identity remains shrouded in mystery. Below the Grand Master are the Council of Captains, comprised of elite bounty hunters who oversee regional operations and ensure adherence to the Guild's principles.   Guild members are organized into tiers, each denoting their level of expertise and accomplishments. Novice hunters enter as Initiates and progress through the ranks of Apprentice, Journeyman, and finally, Master Hunter, attaining the pinnacle of bounty hunting prowess.

The Bounty Hunters' Code

The Bounty Hunters' Guild adheres to a strict code of conduct that governs its members' actions. This code places emphasis on integrity, fair play, and respect for life when possible. The Guild prides itself on maintaining a reputation for honorable and lawful dealings, thus fostering trust among galactic governments and law enforcement agencies.   The Code dictates that bounties must be obtained legally and only from authorized sources, ensuring that targets are verifiably guilty of their alleged crimes. Bounty hunters must take all reasonable measures to apprehend their quarry alive, unless circumstances dictate otherwise - and they frequently do for various reasons.   The Guild strictly prohibits several practices:
  • The assassination of non-target individuals, including family members and innocent bystanders.
  • Killing another guild bounty hunter.
  • Stealing another hunter's bounty.
  • Asking about a bounty once delivered (the code requires that the events that transpired from accepting the bounty to its delivery to be immediately forgotten).
Any breach of the Bounty Hunters' Code is met with severe repercussions, ranging from suspension to expulsion, depending on the gravity of the violation.

The Hunt

Quarries are identified in individual holopucks, simple holographic devices that display an image of the quarry, their name, and the bounty payout. Used alongside a tracking fob, the information on the puck allows Guild members to hunt down their quarry to the edge of the galaxy. Upon picking up such devices at Guild hubs, Guild hunters have officially accepted the bounty and proceed immediately to their hunt.

Initiation and Membership Requirements

To join the illustrious ranks of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, aspirants must prove their worth and mettle. Prospective members undergo a rigorous initiation process, which typically entails a grueling series of challenges to test their physical prowess, combat skills, and mental fortitude.   Once an Initiate has successfully completed the initiation trials, they are taken on as Apprentices, assigned to seasoned Master Hunters who serve as mentors and guides. Apprentices learn from their mentors, gaining invaluable experience in tracking, combat tactics, and the intricacies of navigating the complexities of the galaxy-wide bounty hunting trade.   As they advance through the ranks, members are required to complete missions of increasing difficulty and undertake continuous education in law and ethics. The journey culminates in the ultimate test to earn the title of Master Hunter—an achievement only the most skilled and reputable bounty hunters attain.

Guild Hubs and Offices

The Bounty Hunters' Guild maintains a network of cantinas throughout the galaxy, serving as regional hubs where members gather to exchange information, share stories, and form alliances. These cantinas act as essential meeting places, where bounties are posted, and members can find work and collaborate on high-stakes missions.   On select worlds with considerable bounty hunting activity, the Guild establishes official bounty hunting offices. These offices serve as administrative centers where legal contracts are drawn, and official records of bounties are maintained. They also serve as points of contact between the Guild and local governments, fostering cooperation and mutual benefits.
