Funniguy

Funniguys are the strange, semi-aquatic race of Vaporan. They are unpredictable by nature, often speaking and acting in ways that seem senseless to outsiders. With their light blue or green skin and a natural affinity for water-based magic, they are perfectly at home in the water.

Homeland

Main Article: Vaporan   Funniguys originally hail from from Southeast Asia, on Earth. There, they lived within fishing communities along the coasts and rivers within the jungles. Most Funniguys would eventually migrate to Maji, along with many other races of godkin. Some groups, however, would remain on Earth, most notably, the Battlers, a family of funniguys in Mongolia who have dedicated themselves to protecting Earth from interfieldal threats.   Upon migrating to Maji, the kingdom of Vaporan was quickly established under the rule of Gabriel Jowwi, a powerful wizard and king of the funniguys. Vaporan has occupied two regions throughout its history on Maji, the first being a large region covering Southern Lakelandia and Drydesia and the second covering Southern Calos and many islands within Gabriel's Sea. Both of these regions border the sea, allowing the funniguys to continue their fisherman and seaman lifestyle.

Description

Funniguys, being created by Vah' Poran, a god who takes the appearance of a massive sea serpent, possess many characteristic not seen in any other race of godkin. Their skin and hair has a range of possible colors, from light blue to green. They possess a naturally large and protruding lower lip alongside a noticeable underbite. Their height and lifespan is comparable to that of the dwarves, standing around four to five feet tall and living up to one hundred fifty years normally.   Funniguys also have a slew of natural abilities related to their connection to Vah' Poran. They have a natural affinity for water-based magic, a fact that has been heavily baked into their culture, as well as the ability to breathe underwater. Due to Vah' Poran's connection to all sea life, funniguys are able to telepathically communicate with any form of sea creature; this does not mean they are guaranteed to follow orders or to be persuaded by funniguys, however, as aggressive or unintelligent creatures will stick to their true nature. Funniguys are also able to stomach just about anything and when necessary, regurgitate their stomach contents in a hot spray of acid capable of causing serious damage to anything hit by the attack.

Culture

To outsiders, funniguys appear spontaneous and unpredictable. This can cause them to appear intimidating or naturally hilarious under different circumstances. Their language reflects their unpredictable nature, being incredibly difficult to learn as a non-native speaker. The funniguy language incorporates sounds not used in an other language on Maji as well as a heavy reliance on context, a reliance on context from an already incredibly unpredictable race and culture.   Throughout their history on Maji, funniguys have often filled the niche of expert seamen and traders, funniguy trade routes being the backbone of global trade across Maji. Their affinity for the sea has also created a large pirate culture among the funniguys; funniguy pirates are a common threat in the waters South of the Dragonlands. They are also well versed in sea-based warfare. Funniguy soldiers are taught to harness their natural affinity for sea magic through the use of a martial arts form called Fluid-Form, in which water is controlled by the user to form and throw sharp blades or create impenetrable shields.   The architectural style of the funniguys is a very artistic one. Funniguy buildings and homes often incorporate decorative pillars and orbs, covered in intricately carved patterns. This stonework is often done using colorful stone, especially colors such as blue or green, and when these stones aren't available, colorful paint will be used in its place. Brightly colored funniguy cities dot the coasts they call their homeland.

Religion

Main Articles: Dwarven Pantheon & Religion of Atnonut   Most funniguys, along with the dwarves, follow the Dwarven Pantheon. The Dwarven Pantheon worships Jax' Middal, Atnonut, Vah' Poran, and Ikoalaa as the gods of the universe. They believe magic to be the extension of the gods themselves.   A smaller group of funniguys formed the Religion of Atnonut sometime during or before the Era of the New Dawn. This religion believes Atnonut to have never lost his omniscient and omnipresent form and instead created the gods, including himself, as his agents. The Religion of Atnonut is known to have created many temples across Maji that contain the only known portals to Atnonut's Dimension which can only be opened using all twelve Eyes of Atnonut. The Religion of Atnonut disappeared by the end of the of the Era of New Hope.

One with the Ocean. Through your connection to Vah’ Poran, you are naturally able to breathe underwater and telepathically communicate with all forms of sea life within a 60ft range. However, due to the incredibly low intelligence of most sea life, they are completely unable to be persuaded, deceived, or intimidated.   Unpredictable Nature. Funniguys are unpredictable by nature. After performing any charisma check, you can choose to roll an additional 1d6. If a 3 or lower is rolled, that amount is subtracted from the charisma check. If a 4 or greater is rolled, that amount -3 is added to the charisma check.   Tool Proficiency. You are proficient with the tools of your choice: fishing tackle, cartographer’s tools, or navigator’s tools.   Fluid-Form. You have been trained in the ways of the Fluid-Form. When within 10ft of a body of water, including being submerged, you have advantage on all spell attack rolls.   Projectile Vomit. Once per long rest, you can regurgitate your stomach contents in a hot spray of acid (range 5/20). Add your constitution modifier to your attack roll. Targets hit by the attack have their armor partially dissolved, taking 1d4 acid damage and lowering their AC by 2 until their armor is replaced or repaired; if the target is not wearing armor, their AC is not lowered, but an additional 1d4 acid damage is taken.
