Abenstat

The Guardian City

The seat of Abenstat Barony

Overview:
Sitting on the east coast of Gothmyr, in the middle of the Kingdom's border sits Abenstat. Baronial capital city and major shipping hub for eastern Gothmyr. Abenstat is a common and oft used locale for meetings as well as points of origin for excursions both further inland, and off to sea. Abenstat bustles with activity; from the many docks to the tight, tall merchant streets and even the shanties and smaller homes. Abenstat is a huge town, or small city that holds the baronial castle of the Barony of Abenstat. Merchant guilds and families run Abenstat and the politics in the city is almost a primer or practice for those seeking to play in the game of politics in Kings Watch.

Location:
Abenstat , The Guardian City, is located on the eastern shore of Gothmyr, mid way along the shore, just Four days North of Einval, and 9 days south of Eastwind Abbey. Abenstat sits on a lush high plateau of grassland near not only a large coastal lake, but also near a lush coniferous forest.

History:
The Guardian city was first established as many large cities are; a military outpost. A single lone tower was built on an island right offshore as a forward look out for dangers from the Emerald Sea. The town was established on the shore near the island, as barracks and stables were built for the army of Gothmyr. The battalion was joined by another 2 battalions and brought a group of dwarven engineer officers.. They soon built the first fortified keep and (of course) a tavern and smithy. Soon pilgrims and neighboring villages moved closer to the town for security and protection. Eventually, the town of Abenstat was formed, named after the Captain, Rendis Abenson of Redfield. Abenstat shows much dwarven design and culture within the city. Since the city's fortifications and even its newer outer wall is of dwarven make and design.

Leadership:
The Barony of Abenstat uses Abenstat city as the capital. Currently, the Lord of Abenstat is Baron Alexander Von Broggah II. The Von Broggah Family is fifteen strong, with cousins and aunts and uncles and children. Baron Von Broggah is a shrewd business man, great negotiator and very open to discussions that end in profit. The Von Broggah family use their political power to gain holdings in businesses throughout Abenstat. Alexander is a man of fifty three winters, with brown long hair, braided in traditional dwarven braids, as is his beard.

People of:
Abenstat is a good mixture of races. It is a miniature example of the cross section of Kings Watch populace. Of Abenstat, 60% are human, 20% are Dwarven, another 5 % halfling, and 3% elven, and the remaining 2% are Mentari or Half Orc.
