DAWNSHIELDS OF THE SUN
Militant Fundamentalists of the Church of Eiliynne
OVERVIEW
Eilynne’s Dawnshields is a group that stems form an extremist offshoot of the clerics and paladins of Eilynne, the Goddess of Light, Dawn and Renewal. Eilynne sees this organization as not wholly evil, and thus is allowed to exist. If the Goddess disapproves of their actions, she has not made it known. So far, the Dawnshields seem to be doing the "dirty work" of Eilynne's ethos. Also known as Dawn Inquisitors, the Dawnshields are a militant wing of her beloved paladins and clerics, bent on ferreting out evil in all its forms from the hearts of men. The Dawnshields ignore all authority and overstep their bounds frequently to find and capture prey. They will sidestep constables, ignore guards and fight innocent city watch for a suspected guilty man. Many a city has forbid the Dawnshields in their lands and the entire Dawnshield organization is banned from the entire nation of Anistlav. Land battles and holy wars have been started over the actions and misdeeds of the Dawnshields. If you see the Dawnshields and even in groups of two or three, move away, lest their over zealous attitudes see evil in your actions.
GUILD HISTORY
During the Second Age, the first open church to Ellayne and within a week of it's final brick put into place, it was attacked and destroyed by a tribe of evil humans with the help of multiple corrupt acolytes from within. One of the surviving clerics of the church swore an oath to the heavens and to Eilynne. This oath was to bring all corruption to heel and drag every dark evil scheme into the light and punish all who take part. This was the origination of the Military paladin order of the Dawnshields.
The holy Father, Gregory Welling is a sainted icon for the Order of the Dawnshields. His body has been lost and the original temple's location has been lost to the sands of time. The new church that was built atop the ruins of the first became the first hold of the Dawnshields. The order has survived all subsequent ages.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership into the Dawnshields of Eilynne is simple. You must hate evil, and you must pray and follow Eilynne.
LOCATION OF OPERATIONS
The Knightly order has multiple headquarters and multiple churches through most of the lands of Edus. Currently, the Dawnshields have moved through Anistlav and down into Pennimair, where they are finding a safe haven for their misdeeds and security from punishing governmental bodies.
