Overview:
Holm is more commonly known as "Lakeside". The town of Holm is the truest example of a fishing town. There are docks off the lake on three sides of the town, and there is constant movement on the lake and around the docks no matter the time.
Holm is one of the main suppliers of fish and Lakecrab meat into the mainland of Gothmyr. Wagonloads of frozen fish and iced crab are often seen leaving the peninsula headed for Kings Watch and beyond. Hemp rope and net makers, as well as sail-stitchers and textile seamstresses all make a good living getting products out to the sailors. Holm also trades regularly with Piersdorf across the North end of the lake. It is also the main exporting site for goods and materials that are shipped south through the rivers to the South Gate. Adventurers also find good fortune in Holm as many sailors will hire mercenaries to protect their nets from undersea creatures and other predators of the Icecrown Lake.

Location:

Holm sits on the most Southwestern point of Gothmyr, on a peninsula on the Icecrown Lake. Holm is a classic town, walls made of fieldstones and homes of rough-cut timber and reclaimed rocks. The roads are mainly dirt, but in places cobblestones cover the road, suggesting better roads in the past. There is a wide wooden boardwalk around the front of each of the buildings and shops, and most homes have a wide porch.


Leadership:
The town Mayor is Captain Roland Hoffsbrau II, retired captain of the King Watch Militia. Roland is an elder man in his sixty winters, with salt-and-pepper hair and a bushy mustache. His eyes are permanently squinting, from years of both watching along the coast and age. He is slow to speak and a thinker. Roland has no love for anyone casting Arcane magics, but must run his town to keep the citizens happy. His twin sons, Marius and Gaius, both help him administer the town. The Sherriff of the town is a thick and large dwarven male named Akton Undershield. Bald and totally tattooed, Akton is a Blessed Champion of Prens, and a retired Cleric. The flag of Holm is Hoffsbrau's Family heraldry.


The People:
The people of Holm are polite and welcome most people who enter their town peacefully, except for wizards or mages. These are welcomed but more distantly, and with visible apprehension. There is bad history within Holm from Arcane magic users and their 'control' over the mystic arts. Wizards will be stared at, and no one will sit with their back to an obvious magic user. Divine magic is not only welcome but encouraged.
Every year, The King of Gothmyr travels West to Holm for the annual Lake Regatta. Many sailors along the coasts of Edus come inland to Holm once a year for this sail-around-the-lake. The festival and race bring a lot of coin into Holm, which keeps the businesses open during the off-season.
