The Sanguine Spear

Gruumsh, the One-Eyed Orc god of War, is worshipped by the Orcs of The Forgotten Isle. It is on this island that his chosen champion, Pahgigoth the Bloodied, currently rules over a tribe of Orcs, savagely protecting their "holy ground". It is said that Gruumsh gifted a divine weapon to his champion, one capable of giving its wielder more strength as they struck down enemies. An iron spear, permanently stained by elven blood, from Gruumsh's conquest to attain his ascension into God-hood. Not only did this Sanguine Spear sap the life force from those finished by it, it was also rumoured to return magically to the wielders hand after being thrown. In addition it was rumoured to grow and shrink in length at the will of the user. All stories told, but alas these are also Orcish stories at best, truth be told, few who have seen its abilities first hand, rarely lived to tell others about its magical properties. One day, strangers appeared on the shore of the Forgotten Isle, and Gruumsh's faithful attempted to intercept them unsuccessfully. A group of adventures quickly dispatched some of Pahgigoth's most elite warriors on several occasions until they finally reached his ruined fortress. A Minotaur in the adventuring group claimed the orc's "holy land" as his own birthright. Unsurprisingly, Pahgigoth was ill inclined to heed this claim from a filthy group of adventurers. The remaining Orcs fought along side Pahgigoth and a violent outburst of blood and spell casting from both sides of the keep until none remained save Pahgigoth himself. He fought until his final remaining breath before, silently praising Gruumsh for a glorious death, being finished off by the adventurering party. The Sanguine Spear was then retrieved by a Dragon hunting, Tiefling Ranger, named Nahiri.
