Kashali Elves

The former kingdom, now province, of Kashal is located in a mountainous region to the west of the Continent of Feihon. It is known for it's stunning landscapes, mild but rainy climate, and incredible fertility. Kashal is a land of bounty and natural wonders whose people live simple lives raising many of the crops and animals that sustain the Empire of Laintera. This reputation is, scholars believe, what initially drew the attention of their northern neighbors, Laintera. What aspiring empress would not covet a land of such beauty and natural wealth? Kashal was the first of the elven nations to fall to Laintera's budding empire. A smaller nation, and with far less military might, Kashal was not able to fend off her invaders, who struck without warning. The only kind thing that can be said about the invasion of Kashal is that it was swift and decisive. Despite the difficult terrain, Empress Shouri Malora had no difficulty leading her troops through farming towns and villages, who could mount little resistance, until she sat on the doorstep of Kashal's capitol. By that point most of the country had fallen, and Kashal's rulers surrendered without objection. In the centuries since, Kashal's land and people have recovered and returned, mostly, to their traditional ways. The region's farmland is valuable to the empire. Industrious and lucky farmers or merchants have been able to make significant fortunes providing goods to the capitol, and several of Kashal's natural wonders have become popular tourist destinations.

Major language groups and dialects

The Kashali dialect has been all but lost. The language is maintained only by a handful of communities that live particularly deep in the mountains, and even there it is dying as newer generations do not pick it up.
