Basic Information
Anatomy
The Bog Whelk is said to range anywhere from ten meters in height to a minuscule meter tall. They largely resemble snails aside from the seaweed, moss, or undergrowth that appears to grow forth from their shells. They are gastropods and have a large shell that serves as their skeleton.
Genetics and Reproduction
Bog Whelks as a whole are assumed to be hermaphrodites. They breed with each other when able but have no need of a mate to have offspring. They grow in egg clutches ranging from 1-5 offspring.
Growth Rate & Stages
How old a bog whelk can get is not known as of yet. Though it is said they can live upwards of 1000 years. This claim has yet to be substantiated. It is assumed that they develop similar to the snail as we know it and utilize their surrounding materials to generate their shells. Their have been claims of mithril lined shells appearing on the backs of these creatures.
Ecology and Habitats
Bog Whelks are said to reside on the Vile Isle of Emer. Rumors have come forth of Bog Whelks deep within the caverns of Emer or roaming the seafloor of the Broken Bay.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bog Whelks are said to eat anything from mineral deposits to ocean floor dwelling creatures.
