Skyguard
A weapon originally handed down to the chosen Champion of The Chantry (who is also known as The Hand of the Divine). The blade named Skyguard is rumoured to have been blessed by The Maker himself with the soul of an angelic being, after answering the ardent prayers of Justinia The First some time after her victory in the Rune War. Taking into account what the Chantry teaches about The Maker, this would make the blade one-of-a-kind, as it was never recorded that He ever answered any other prayers before or after this event.
However, during the year 323, the chosen Hand of the Divine was sent to deal with a demonic threat in the south. Skyguard was lost alongside its wielder, never to be found again.

Manufacturing process
According to legend, the blade was crafted from a metal that fell from the heavens. It was tempered with griffon blood for seven days and nights by an Elven smith. This blade was then wielded by the smith in the Rune War, where he earned Justinia's favour and served as her personal guard.
The story then states that the smith was struck down as he protected the Divine from a fatal blow that also broke the blade, an event which prompted Justinia to pray to the Maker for the salvation of her protector. The Maker is said to have answered this prayer by blessing Skyguard with the soul of the ascended smith so he that could always watch over her. The blade still looked broken, but when wielded against foes it would flare up with holy light and burn anything it touched.
