Mubari Hunter Cell
Hunters are the basic military unit of the Mubari nation. Hunters receive specialty training based on their role and assignments - ranging from basic training to survival to assassination. Hunter cells are the most elite of any Mubari military troops. They are invisible in the cultures where they hunt, consummate in their espionage skills, and deadly when required to be.
In 1933 CE, after the much publicized Map of Tears affair, Mubari leaders were strongly encouraged by the Silent Scream to not start a holy war in the face of the death of one of the sacred midnight claws. The leadership acquiesced, but motions were put in to play to establish a spy network of hunters throughout the holdings of the branded families. Only the most capable are selected, and then only after being proved through extensive assignments. The hunters were organized into cells around the world and from 1942 CE when the first assassination earmarked by a triskelion shaped wound felled a Lynx dignitary, Mubari hunter cells have been active.
Composition
Manpower
The size of a Mubari hunter cell is dependent on the objective. Any number of cell level hunters may live in a geographic area. A cell enlists the minimum number of hunters to accomplish the objective. Only one Crow is assigned to an objective. General guidelines recommend one coordinator for every one five hunters, however this is rarely practical and usually there is only one or two coordinators working any given objective no matter how many hunters are involved.
Equipment
Every Mubari hunter will have a set of notched scales. Hunters may be instructed to notch custom scales for particular details if silent coordination is needed. The scales, a Tooth and a small bottle of qlipah are the only equipment assigned to every hunter. Equipment specific to an objective or a hunter's skills may also be in possession or need to be acquired.
Weaponry
The Triskelion Tooth (or Tooth) is the signature weapon of Mubari hunters. It is a small, finely crafted push dagger, used with qlipah. It is easily palmable and leaves a triskelion shaped wound that is the earmark of a hunter cell victim.
Structure
A hunter cell consists of one Crow, one or more coordinators, and any cell members assigned to an objective. The Crow is a temporary assignment. They are the only cell member to receive all of an objective's particulars. The coordinator handles all of the communications for a cell, but even then may not know of all the cell members if more than one coordinator are in an area The coordinator will know none of the particulars of the objective. Cell members will only know of the particulars of the objective pertinent to them.
Tactics
Mubari hunters in cells act as loosely coordinated solo operatives.
Training
Only the most highly trained hunters are sent out to cells. A hunter must have completed their standard training in the Mubari home forces, served five years in foreign posts, and mastered the language and customs of a branded family territory before being considered for cell assignment. Any member of a cell will also have learned crow speak, notched scale usage and covert methodologies.
Coordinators are trained and deployed separately, needing only to know the economics of their deployment area and an unfailing knowledge of scale code. Coordinators are not trained in crow speak.
