Eios

Eios is a world far older than the memory of the trees or mountains, its history deeper than the oceans and stretching farther than the skies. Ancient knowledge remains buried under the graveyard of decayed and forgotten Elven empires, and Dwarves dig kingdoms into mountains once young and shallow. Of all the sentient races that carve their domains across the world Humans are the youngest of them all. The earliest knowledge known is that of the Elves and Dwarves who emerged from the boiling seas at the end of the Cataclysm, a great event between the Gods that burned the world and melted the skies. These were the first Fey, races created by the dying Gods to continue their legacy and lineage. Thousands of years of rise and fall saw the emergence of Man, a race born by the last God to sleep, Palimus. Palimus, the Master of Ingenuity, created man with a short life and a powerful mind, and he intended for his children to become better through their own problem solving and critical thinking. As the last Gods left Eios to slumber and recover from their wounds a final strike was made by their foes cursing and tainting the world before being cast out of Eios.

Today progress is lack luster as life struggles to simply exist in such a state of turmoil, and in some places fear takes hold over the land freezing it in terror. Witch Hunters roam the country side seeking out the taint of corruption and darkness, while becoming wealthy off the confiscations in the name of righteousness. Weak men attempt to control the uncontrollable, dabbling in energies beyond their comprehension. It is a world in eternal darkness, and every light will go out eventually, but in that light there is hope. A deep and ancient history waits for those seeking to find it, and evil lurks in shadows ready to ambush when the moment becomes right.
