Ariel
An elven woman and former diplomat for the Elflands Empire. In 897 She escaped Kassadeia with her husband on the night of the New Year's Massacre, hiding for a time in Galway before the Sunken God's sahuagin forces overwhelmed the city in the fall of that same year. The two of them seized a ship to sail east towards safer shelter, but a mysterious sea creature (later identified as a morkoth) attacked the ship and killed everybody aboard including her husband. She was rescued by the Royal Knights Brigade and escorted to the halfling city of Noggin, where she was given food and fresh clothes in Cereus Diviciacus Quinn-Malum's old cabin.
After the defeat of the Sunken God at the Battle of Kassadeia she traveled to the old elven city of Henriad, helping the thousands of elven refugees flowing into the city find homes in the new capital of the Elflands. She became an influential member of Queen Rosalind Avon's royal court, vouching for an isolationist policy that sealed off the Elflands from the rest of the outside world. In 900 a violent hate crime against Elflands expats in the Rakkan city of Qilthani gave further credence to Ariel's ideas, leading to several decades of isolation from the outside world for the kingdom's elves. Only elven people would be allowed to enter and leave, all others would be forced to do business solely at designated ports in Henriad.
