CoS Session 30: Flipping the Bird

General Summary

8/3/875

• Gaheris pours Medraad a drink, says he’s his father
• He abandoned Medraad at an early age
• Was involved in Orange King cult with Fairouz and Dariwsh, but left when it got out of hand
• Fairouz took the group in a real dark direction, tried to get to a place known as the Far Realms
• So Gaheris left and joined Avicennan military to redeem himself
• He believes magic should be purged, and he offers Medraad a job as well
• Medraad refuses, and Elan makes him invisible so they can both escape
• Then pandemonium ensues
• Gaheris puts factory on lockdown
• Adam gets carted off to safe room with the other janitors, nobody gets suspicious
• Medraad casts'Thaumaturgy' and 'Confusion' on factory floor to sow chaos
• While guards are fighting each other, he hits airship with 'Eldritch Blast'
• He breaks a propeller, but guards start noticing his attacks
• He pretends to be a defenseless engineer, so it’s all good
• Him and Elan find Adam in a safe room, they escape through back exit
• It’s a long hike down from mountains to Scylla
• Back in town Adam stops by inn to pick up weapons/armor
• Can’t be armed as a janitor!
• He picks up weapons, but he runs into guard in hallway
• They fight, Adam splits guard’s face in half with a hatchet
• Meanwhile Elan and Medraad sneak down to docks to find escape boat
• They find a coal-powered fishing trawler named Mudskipper
• Adam made it to the docks, but he’s being chased by six guards
• Elan powers up boat, Medraad disguises self as old fisherman
• He does great job of tricking guards into thinking Adam is his grandson
• The party is at sea
• Elan is captain of Mudskipper, naturally
• A few hours later Nikolaj makes it to ship in a rowboat
• It’s a long story, but he had to do some work for Rexfur

• Party gets a crow from Azrael, it literally coughs up 200GP for each of them and tells them to sail to Kanara
• Verona is being put on trial for murder of Gen. Boua, he wants to try saving her
• Party is aghast, getting real tired of Avicenna
• They want to go to Hakon, see old friends in Gameria
• Medraad also sends telepathic link to Roland, tells him about airship
• A few days later the crow comes back explaining why Azrael wants Verona rescued
• She’s an old flame, and he believes Verona can be swayed to their side
• Verona never raised a hand against in all their confrontations, after all
• Reluctantly, party heads south
• Party docks at a miserable fishing town, decides to ride horses to Kanara
• Medraad rolls nat20, convinces stablemaster to give them all the horses in his stable
• It’s in exchange for Mudskipper so he can live out dream as fisherman
• Plenty of horses available (Elan’s is named Misty, Adam’s Speedy)
• They take their horses to the old time road
