DW Session 23: Spider Extermination

General Summary

• Back at the ship Beleren and Flora relay the happenings of the previous session to Queen Astrid
• She urges them to continue with the mission, find intel on Sunken God
• She offers to come along, brings her guard Vandakar and one of the ship's crew along
• Cereus is also feeling well enough to join the group this time
• Meanwhile, Jax wakes up cocooned in web speaking with Fettercap
• Fettercap puts a spider in Jax’s nose so he understands Abyssal
• Fettercap is mad that him and the rest of the party killed his giant spiders
• Fettercap says 5,000GP will go a long ways towards repaying his debts for the trespass
• Jax can’t find his weapons anywhere nearby
• The party begins the slow descent into Castle Faouzia
• Cereus casts produce flame, they don’t want a very large light yet
• Some debris falls on his head halfway down the hallway
• Beleren takes stealthy steps, manages to ice three spiders with one-shot kills
• Astrid is in the back flanked by Vandakar and Russel (the sailor)
• The party makes it to the entrance to the atrium, face-to-face with several spiders
• They’re killed with relative ease, but then the rest of the atrium's spiders notice the party
• Boss Fight: Fettercap and the remaining 10 Phase Spiders
• Beleren’s sneak attack is devastating
• He runs around the edges of the daylight spell cast by Astrid
• Cereus gets bitten several times, but his 'Thunderwave' repels several of the spiders
• Vandakar and Russel act as damage sponges for several of the spiders
• Fettercap focuses his attacks on Flora and Astrid
• Jax breaks free of his webbing, runs down to join party and grapple Fettercap
• Astrid delivers the killing blow and disintegrates Fettercap
• Her 'Spirit Guardians' also disassemble at least three of the spiders
• In the fallout of the battle the party tries to find clues about the Sunken God/Ostry Apocalypse
• Flora and Jax go upstairs to find Jax’s weapons
• They’re buried under a pile of dead phase spiders from earlier in the day
• A handaxe and a javelin are missing
• Cereus and Flora go outside with Astrid and Vandakar
• Fairouz’s old lighthouse study is collapsed on the ground a few feet away from the castle's entrance
• Astrid is a little dismayed by Cereus casting a necrotic spell like Blight
• But Cereus makes up for it by jumping into Fairouz’s study and looking around for info
• -He finds a book called The Butler, a firsthand account of the Ostry Apocalypse
• The writer talks about how the monstrous deities were defeated by being contained inside items known as Iron Flasks
• The question is, where can the RKB find one of these Iron Flasks?
• Astrid will investigate further
• Finally, the party leaves Faouzia once and for all
• Astrid and Flora combine prayers to channel the divine power of Erivo
• Miraculously, Erivo listens and decimates Castle Faouzia
• Nothing is left of the lich’s fortress
• A gaping wound is carved into the land
• Beleren isn’t impressed
• He thinks about how much noise that lightshow made
