GHG Session 4: Kick a Ginger Day
General Summary
Month 8, Week 4, Year 918
With generous servings of high-grade Sardivelian coffee, the Fortunate Five slowly prepared themselves for another day of exploration around Silvio. The group had some promising leads to work on from the night before, so the group split into three separate directions for much of the morning. Before leaving they learned from Thorgrim that another nobleman had been slayed by the invisible killer, turning this bout of murders into a case worthy of the Avventuri's attention. Argus headed towards the Uffizi, warning Officer Renzo about the camp of sahuagin lurking in the sewers. Renzo thanked the ex-pirate for the tip, saying that it was enough to pay off his 25GP bounty to the Sardivelian government. Dejected by such a paltry bounty, the bugbear headed upstairs into the opulent halls and chambers of the Uffizi until he discovered the archives department. Argus obtained the most recent copy of his wanted poster (still more than four years old), and he also came across several books on dragons imported from the continent of Liat. He spent hours poring over stories about Miraghan, who ruled over the modern-day Nestorian Mtns. as God-Queen more than 7,000 years ago. The legends proved so fascinating that Argus forgot to regroup with the party at Bocaccio's for lunch and spent the rest of the day at the Uffizi. Meanwhile Phaedra stayed behind at Bocaccio's trying to find some gossip and rats for her pet snakes. Thorgrim begrudgingly allowed her snakes to feed on the rats in the attic, but when Phaedra started rummaging through the crates upstairs she was unceremoniously kicked to the curb. It would take a generous 25GP bribe from Zan'kiri to convince the bartender to let her back into the tavern. As for the rest of the group, Bubbles, Windred, Ys, and Zan'kiri headed to the train station to retrace the grung's escape from the Silvio. Through Windred's incredible investigating skills and Bubbles' semi-lucid memories, they followed Bubbles' footsteps back to a seedy neighborhood squished between the trainyards and the wealthy Marotta Quarter. A suspicious woman took interest in the party's investigation, so feeling threatened the group headed back to Bocaccio's to share their findings with the others. Windred and Ys had a conversation with Phaedra about causing too much mischief while Zan'kiri learned from Thorgrim about a couple of shady characters who'd come in asking about his posters from the night before. The dark-haired brother(?) and sister(?) duo were sitting at the back of the tavern, scanning the room like trained rogues. The Fortunate Five quickly set a plan in place, starting with Ys taking Bubbles upstairs to keep them safe from the shady characters downstairs. Windred and Phaedra went back into the tavern, hanging out with the lunch rush crowd but still within spell-slinging distance of the table in the back. Finally Zan'kiri re-entered Bocaccio's disguised as a black dragonborn, just like the one described in the poster. The shady characters bribed Zan'kiri with 130GP to see this grung, saying they'd want to see Bubbles for themselves and eventually discuss a price for taking it off his hands. Only one complication: a red-headed guy smoking outside the tavern noticed the gith leave and a dragoborn re-enter a couple seconds later, and he warned about the shady characters about the potential trickery going on. This caused the duo to leave Bocaccio's and head towards the seedy neighborhood on the other side of town, the ginger staying behind and scanning the room for any more suspicious activity. Windred extricated herself from a table of drunk bullywugs while Phaedra left a passionate debate about the elements of a perfect husband, moving over towards the bar to get closer to the ginger. Already on edge, the ginger noticed Phaedra cast some spell on his drink and started threatening her with a crossbow. Windred chose this moment to turn into a giant centipede and try to paralyze him with a poisonous bite. The pincers still stung, but the ginger withstood the venom. He fled the tavern and started racing towards the docks, but even the fastest rogue is no match for a spell with a 120-ft radius. Windred and Zan'kiri shot him down with arcane energy, and Phaedra rushed over to clap some manacles on the unconscious ginger. A lot of questions needed answering that night, but preferably at a different tavern now that the party was officially banned from Bocaccio's.
