GHG Session 45: Pillars of the Community
General Summary
Month 1, Week 2, Year 919
Well-rested after sleeping in a warm apartment for the first time in weeks, the Fortunate Five met with Kyoko Hara the next morning to discuss ways they could continue helping out Chusei University. The vicious rumors about the party being oni in disguise would need to be dealt with, the local high priest of the Ageless One offering to meet with the group and help them rehabilitate their public image. An important international conference would be held in Sanjuro City in three month's time, so the FF thought it best to stay in town, make their presence felt, and finally start learning the language. If the adventuring bug ever starting biting again, there'd be plenty of opportunities to go abroad: Kyoko still wanted her chosen ally to rise to power in the Kiri Remnant, and in a few week's time a tournament was being held in the Way of the Range where the group could compete and perhaps convince the reclusive monasteries to join Sanjuro City's international conference. Back in town the days moved by faster than they ever did in the Koulan Forests, with study and work around town filling the party's time. At Kyoko's request Zan'kiri started overseeing Toshiro Matsui's training of Chusei's security force, determining that buying and murdering pigss would be the best way to the whip the guards into fighting shape. Headmistress Kyoko hosting arranging one-on-meetings with members of the FF, beginning with Ysmyrelda Starr. The two of them discussed Ys' criminal background and the Rakkan bounty on Reetma's head, Kyoko somewhat reassured that the half-elf's life of crime was now behind her. Ys then proceeded to then meet up with her Handgun contacts to start planning the heist of the century on Chusei's Museum of Natural Wonders. But everybody found ways to pass the time and meet up with old friends. Reetma met with Prof. Quespa to hone his psychic abilities, getting aggressively sniffed at by a blind kuo-toa named Skip and learning how to throw things (ie Skip) with his psychic gem. Bubbles ran into Bleu the blue grung from the Koulan Forests, patiently explaining the concept of currency to the mint-living frog. Windred called Kirby to get Teherse'singh formally signed on as a member of the GHG, after which T went to some meetings with the school's resident expert on Old Myltevian lore to fill in the gaps in his knowledge. The week ended with most of the FF meeting up with High Priest Heiwa to discuss the teachings of the Ageless One and how they could work together. He talked about the reincarnation cycle of life on Ekal and how those seeking immortality defied the natural order, points that would have had Zan'kiri's zombies rolling in their grave if they weren't already shambling around the city. But Heiwa offered the party to assist with his 'Hallow' ritual, helping to ensure the city was as well-defended as possible from interplanar threats. It'd be a time-consuming process, but maybe the party might be able to carve out some protections for quori and gith by being involved in the ritual.
