GHG Session 49: Tournament 100% Speed Run

General Summary

Month 3, Week 1, Year 919
Well-rested after the tournament's qualifying games, the Fortunate Five set about divvying up its talent to help out its chosen competitors in the week's big tournament. Zan'kiri and a bald Windred would support Reetma from the sidelines, meanwhile Teherse'singh would act as Xa'kara's intimidating manager (perhaps inspired by last night's screening of the Old Myltevian cinemalogue Rocky). Before the start of the day's tournament the leader of the Way of the Astral Seers tried to poach Windred from the Fortunate Five, but the kalashtar politely declined the opportunity to suffer further brain damage at the Astral Seer monastery. Similarly, Teherse'singh had a meeting with the leader of the Way of the Dragon-Gods to try and obtain access to their Old Myltevian ruins, an offer that would be indefinitely extended depending on the FF's performance during the tournament.   But the FF came to impress, dominating the competition with a display of insurmountable strength and spellwork. Zan'kiri paralyzed Reetma's rivals to turn them into virtual punching bags, the tiefling holding his own amidst the arena's environmental challenges and battering his opponents into oblivion. Defeating Frogtholomew of the Drunk Friars and Halldora of the Dragon-Gods guaranteed him a spot in the finals.   Xa'kara was near invulnerable between her ragelike powers and Teherse'singh's arcane support, showing more mercy than Reetma and giving her competitors a chance to forfeit with a bit of their dignity and consciousness still intact. Surviving magical darkness and noxious fumes, the Sabhan fighter was a shoe-in for the finals.   Between every level of the tournament there were shows and competitions for other members of the monasteries to compete in. Ysmyrelda represented the Fortuante Five during the Battle of the Bards, performing a dazzling show full of transformations, ravens, and incredible violin solos to win the the Battle and obtain a letter of recommendation for a meeting with one of the greatest bards in all of Pescaliat. Just before the finals Zan'kiri notched another win for the FF during the library erotica hunt, running so many laps around the competition that he even had time to find some Old Myltevian scrolls chronicling the empire's interactions with the Gith.   With so many victories under their belt Jin Wa the golden grung took some time to interview a handful of the FF's members, starting with Bubbles to learn more about their motivations. In a shocking turn of events the Astral Seer's leader Yensid managed to conjure a connection with Bubbles' patron Mórolingwe, where Zan'kiri detected an unfortunate amount of aberrant energy from the creature. Xa'kara's interview wasn't great television, the Sabhan politely declining a meeting with the ghosts of her destroyed village and calmly explaining her reasons for adventuring. Jin Wa tried to ratchet up the drama in his interview with Zan'kiri by having Yensid conjure a connection with the githyanki matriarch Vlaakith in the Astral Sea, but the poor monastery leader passed out before he could even pierce the Veil.   But with the interviews complege, Jin Wa stepped down from the bleachers to get ready for the final match of the tournament: an all-or-nothing battle where all the members of the Fortunate Five would square off against the golden grung and his greatest goliath fighters. Final boss music radiated from every corner of the arena as the adventurers braced themselves for this surprice encounter...
