GHG Session 53: The Siege of Nekutalin, Pt I
General Summary
Month 3, Week 4, Year 919
In the twilight hours before the siege, Shogun Tolball gave the Fortunate Five some warnings about Mr. Dynamite and his abilities. The leader of the Dynamite Roll had always been an eccentric character in his tyrannical control of Nekutalin, but in the last few months his behavior had become more errantic and violent than usual. With Zan'kiri's galleys and a literal army of the undead at their disposal, the FF felt confident enough to withstandd Mr. Dynamite's forces regardless of their enemy's mental state. The party took a two-pronged approach to breaking the defenses of Castle Nekutalin, Mr. Dynamite's seat of power in the city: Reetma, Xa'kara, Ysmyrelda, and Zan'kiri marched straight up to the castle gate with the galleys protecting them from volleys of flaming arrows while Bubbles, Teherese'singh, and Windred swam (or walked) down the riverways to deal with any of the Dynamite Roll's reinforcements. The plan went perfectly, soldiers falling like flies to Teherse'singh's sickening radiance and Reetma's relentless offensive. Even Ysmyrelda managed to pick off enemies from the comfort of the well-defended gallies, Bubbles and Windred avoiding most of the damage dealt by Mr. Dynamite's forces. Xa'kara was briefly knocked unconscious by the defending army's spellcasters and their flame-based spells, but she returned the favor by slaying one of the giant units with a devastating blow. By the end of the invasion she was able to swing Zan'kiri's adamantium mace the Door Maker and demolish Castle Nekutalin's front gate. The real fight had begun. While the party's invasion was a resounding success, they couldn't help but feel unnerved by comments made by some of Mr. Dynamite's forces. When one of them stopped Reetma from racing up a sheer cliffside they taunted the tiefling by name, and another one took an uncomfortable degree of pleasure out of being bludgeoned by his quarterstaff. These soldiers knew an eerie amount of information about the party's past battles, one of them even referencing a spell cast on Windred half a year ago in Sardivelia. Going off a hunch, Ysmyrelda felt a pit in her stomach when she saw the gray jacket collar beneath a fallen soldier's armor.
