GHG Session 54: The Siege of Nekutalin, Pt II
General Summary
Month 3, Week 4, Year 919
The battle for Nekutalin continued with no rests for the Fortunate Five, continuing their offense by crashing through the outer fortifications of the city's main castle. A quick race through the courtyard found the party within the castle's vast interior, winding staircases and hallways echoing with the cries of war and madness. Whether intentional or not, Castle Nekutalin proved to be a winding puzzle for the party, splitting into two separate directions for the party to take. Bubbles, Windred, and Xa'kara decided to provide diversions to the western wing while the party's martial forces worked as the vanguard of the east wing. This means that Mr. Dynamite's soldiers in the west wing suffered in a dark and spiky sphere of magical darkness while the soldiers in the east wing were bludgeoned and skewered to death by Reetma and Zan'kiri's crossbow-wielding skeletons. Mr. Dynamite's insane face appeared from time to time during this fight, but only to tease Teherse'singh about his mysterious Old Myltevian origins. But the vanguard did its job well, and the rest of the party shifted its attention from west to east as they raced down echoing hallways. Windred got a taste for blood by stabbing a guard to death at close range, and Ysmyrelda provided support fire from behind the bends of the castle's winding corridors. Somewhere in the middle of the castle the party was confronted by a moral quandry: ten civilians chained to explosives surrounding a chest clearly containing some valuable loot. But ethical dilemmas are no match for the FF, following Shogun Tolball's orders Zan'kiri sent in a test skeleton to trigger the explosive and collect the chest's loot. Adding a magical ring and ten more civilian casualties to their collection, the FF raced straight into a strange banquet being hosted by Mr. Dynamite in the party's honor. A large cornucopia loomed large as the dinner's centerpiece. Gray Hat, speeking through an obsessive Mr. Dynamite, praised the party as fellow 'agents in chaos' seeking the same goals as the Abyssal archdemon. Every time that a Gray Hat-influenced individual was about to be defeated by the party (e.g. Bianca Avon, Theo Vechian), the party always left behind a fresh body or spared one of Gray Hat's acolytes to continue the cycle of chaos. Gray Hat believed that FF were here to celebrate such a profitable arrangement for both sides, but Ys and Zan'kiri quickly disillusioned him of such ideas. Reasoning only works if both sides agree to the same reality, so Gray Hat's banquet quickly turned into another fight for the party to overcome.
