GHG Session 62: Shattered Dreams
General Summary
Month 4, Week 2, Year 919
The battle with Craghan quickly turned into a chaotic affair: one wrong move could have you hurtling over the edge of his floating lighthouse down to earth, and even the careful ones might be vaporized from a rogue boulder tossed by Koulan. But with Craghan gracefully teleporting around the battlefield, the Fortunate Five were forced to stay on the move and quickly jump from platform to platform to keep up with him. Zan'kiri and Xa'kara took over the topmost portion of Craghan's lab, forcing him to seek shelter in one of the lower levels. On a lower level his arcane constructs attacked Reetma and Bubbles, but with Loopmottin's help they managed to push the monsters back and establish a foothold in Craghan's domain. That left the center of the conflict happening 200 ft. off the ground, where Windred was trapped inside a forcecage while half the party simultaneously tried to rescue her and fended off a horde of zombified kalashtar. Loopmottin managed to teleport over to the platform and swapped places with Windred in the forcecage, but she didn't think far enough ahead to come up with a way to break free from it. The fight raged on, Teherse'singh firing a relentless deluge of fireballs in Craghan's direction. Xa'kara leaped down to grapple with Craghan in a face-to-face showdown, but his psychic attacks soon pushed her to death's door. With Windred now free to focus all her pent-up rage on Craghan, a final fireball from Teherse'singh destroyed the creepy githzerai once and for all. But the FF had little time to celebrate their victory: Craghan's lighthouse tower was slowly moving towards the forcecage, activating a teleportation ritual to move both it and the cage away from the Forests. Without Craghan at the helm the tower started overheating, the party taking a few brief seconds to escape the center of the explosion and safely fall back to earth. Xa'kara was quickly revived and Windred stabilized Inaba, but Loopmottin was still inside the forcecage when the entire tower exploded around her. Ys started racing through the wreckage to search for the teleporting gnome, but she was nowhere to be found. Another fight in the Koulan Forests had led to another sacrifice.
