GHG Session 65: Back in the Eye of the Storm
General Summary
Month 8, Week 3, Year 921
For the first time in over two years, the Fortunate Five reunited to deal with an old familiar foe: Gray Hat. Some party members had new affiliations, some had new responsibilities, and almost everybody was sporting a new haircut. Despite some party members like Windred and Ys having to cut ties with the GHG due to its stricter stance on dual loyalties, this group of adventurers still very much considered themselves the Fortunate Few. Meeting up at Windred's new Ruby Eye tavern in the desert city of Anthep, the kalashtar shared some fresh intel with the party about Gray Hat's whereabouts: strange reports were coming in from one of Despero's villages near the Temeraire Mtns., bearing all the hallmarks of the archdemon's corruption. A wealthy half-elf family known as the Gruyeres ruled over the area, and the supernatural activity began not long after the return of the family's patriarch Benedicte to the ancestral chateau. Nobody had seen any of the Gruyeres since Benedicte's return, and a distant relative of the family was willing to pay top dollar for anybody will to investigate the area. So once Windred had tackled Reetma and given Xue instructions for running the tavern, the FF took the week-long carriage ride south towards the mining village of Croque-Monsieur (travel felt a whole lot slower without a gnome to recklessly teleport you everywhere). Gray Hat's corrupting influence was immediately felt, a perpetual nightfall looming over the city while the twin moons Yunal and Zunal hung motionless in the sky. Checking the tavern first like any good adventurer, they learned from the tavernkeeper Maurice about how a handful of servants hadn't been in days since they were called up to the chateau for work. Windred scryed on Argus one more time, and when she saw him decked out in a demonic suit at a lavish Desperan chateau the party knew their mission was more urgent than ever.
