HHI Session 23: Gruumsh Shall Rise
General Summary
Month 5, Week 4, Year 908
A new day dawned for the Seeking Scorpions, a new day to sow discord and chaos throughout Sanjuro City. Mavis gambled with the old-timers, Kiros purchased torture implements, and Ithilwen met with worshipers of the deity Yo-Na to try and remove Euryale's curse. Yo-Na expected devotion and sacrifice from its followers, abandoning attachments to the petty intrigues of the world and focusing on preserving the world's natural environments. A ritual could be performed to lift Ihtilwen's curse in a couple of days, but the orcish priests made it clear that the elven ranger must then become a warrior in the service of Yo-Na afterwards. As night fell, Ownka and Log reassembled their group of lizardfolk for another raid on the ship captain's estate. The rest of the party agreed to join the mission, hoping to make some extra gold out of the deal. Ithilwen's 'Pass Without Trace' ensured that the small army of lizardfolk and adventurers entered the courtyard undetected, but all stealth was thrown out the window the moment they started creeping upstairs. The party got into a fight with a couple of talented guards, capable of landing their blows with precision and grace. The battle took an unexpected turn when an orc from the temple of Yo-Na joined the fray, forcing Ithilwen to retreat to the city streets to avoid getting on Yo-Na's bad side. The fight raged on both indoors and out, Ithilwen running into a couple of guards racing towards the site of the commotion. Many lizardfolk died in the battle, but Ownka held her own while Log delivered the killing blow to the Yo-Na barbarian. As a final insult to Yo-Na's faith, Ownka cast 'Raise Dead' on the fallen barbarian to turn him into a zombie in Gruumsh's service. The remaining lizardfolk raided the house while her and Log raced upstairs to confront Tadao, the ship captain that had been underpaying his lizardfolk workers. Ownka proved more intimidating than ever in her magic armor, but it wasn't enough to convince Tadao to surrender to her demands. With a final gesture, she ordered the zombie barbarian to strangle Tadao before rushing outside with her band of lizardfolk. Outside Kiros and Mavis had joined in the fight outside, dealing with the guards slinging spells at Ithilwen and the remaining lizardfolk fighers...
