HHI Session 24: A Week's Peace

...The battle came to a stunning conclusion when the last guard standing, surviving multiple stab wounds and brutal attacks, cast 'Fireball' from a spell scroll in the center of the fight. The guard died along with a couple of lizardfolk, but Ithilwen's quick healing saved Kiros from certain death. Neighbors were catching wind of the violent battle outside, forcing the Seeking Scorpions to flee for the nearest safehouse. Mavis decided a trash can would be the safest lodging for the night, meanwhile Kiros took the rest of the party to Ryota and The Handgun safehouse. The tiefling Ryota allowed the group to stay the night, but only after they handed over the magic armor Kiros had stolen from the estate for Ownka. Ryota promised to pay the party generously once the armor was fenced and sold, but there was still plenty of grumbling from someone who was supposedly a member of the Handgun. Upstairs Ownka performed a ritual to commune with Gruumsh in front of the band of lizardfolk who'd survived the fight. Gruumsh expressed his pleasure at the battle's havoc and Yo-Na's humiliation, taking possession of the zombie summoned by Ownka as an offering from one of his most reliable clerics. Ownka needed to continue on her mission for the Gatekeeper, but she suggested that Log stay behind in Sanjuro City to help their budding tribe of Gruumsh-worshiping lizardfolk grow stronger in the face of oppression from the town guard. Gruumsh agreed, and Log took the responsibility given her with an unseen level of grace and awe. The next morning Mavis got a point of exhaustion and a call from the Gatekeeper, saying that plans needed to be changed with Shroud agents swarming the docks of Ichigo. He ordered Mavis to meet him at Kita Outpost, a secluded port in the northernmost reaches of the Northern Territories. Mavis begrudgingly agreed before returning to the Closeport Tavern for a much-needed rest. Ownka had some trouble meeting with her lizardfolk followers now that the streets were swarming with guards, almost like an army of lizardfolk were the perpetrators of last night's attack. Kiros also had some run-ins with the town guard, deciding that one of the patrolmen would make for a perfect test subject for his new torture implements. Unfortunately all the guards seemed to travel in pairs, and when Kiros tried to trap one guard in his net the two of them chased him down city streets near the east side of town. The roguish fighter managed to deal a decent amount of damage, but he was no match for the unparalleled marksmanship of one of the guards. He was shot down trying to escape custody, dying before the guards could give him a healing potion. That night Ithilwen told the party about her call with Maris earlier in the day, suggesting that they could lay low at Reshi and Nessa's new safehouse on the west side of town. Ownka agreed in order to avoid her interrogation with the town guard that night, taking the last few days in town to instruct her lizardfolk army on battle maneuvers. Mavis finally got her leather crown, a beautiful creation of black leather, and Ithilwen was given some reading material about the deity Merrshaulk from Reshi. The Seeking Scorpions would sail across the Sakana Lakes towards Kori on their way to their reunion with the Gatekeeper. The party said farewell to the city that had caused so much heartache and trouble, a lot can happen in just a single week.
