Jael Hainaut
A female dark elf and former member of the adventuring group Dark Souls. After being born above-ground in the middle of a storm, Jael always felt a strong connection to the Ageless One deity and became a cleric in their service after completing her formal drow training at House Hainaut. For decades she operated as a spy traveling all across The Verschow, becoming one of the first to pick up on rumors of a devilish conspiracy in the region's highest echelons of power. Seeking to prevent total war between her homeland and the tieflings of Rakka, she reached out to Father Eli Anderson to form an alliance and defeat the fiends at play. She journeyed with the Dark Souls for a couple of weeks to unite the Verschow's noble families against the corrupted House Baudissin and rescue House Hainaut's matriarch Marwen from a camp of illithids. Unfortunately her adventure was cut short rescuing Marwen from the mind flayers of Dordekt's Legion, disintegrated to a pile of ash by one of the camp's alhoons.
To the surprise of everybody in her family and adventuring party, a couple days later Jael reappeared atop the dinner table in Castle Hainaut as a ghost. She'd never be able to hug her mother again, but she could still cast spells and defend her family against House Baudissin. She delivered grievous blows to both Sariel and Naberius, and she made sure to haunt Ereldra Baudissin plenty in the nights leading up to the clash between their rival houses.
Jael had been revived as a ghost by the grace of her patron deity the Ageless One, and this blessing came with limitations. As Jael tried to leave Dromire to attend the signing of the Treaty of Rel-Kadrar, she learned that her spectral presence couldn't be sustained beyond the reaches of the city. Disappointed, Jael would spend the following years haunting the streets and castles of Dromire to keep an ever-watchful eye on any fiendish activity. As the years dragged into decades, Jael became the unofficial tour guide of Dromire and inquired after every new face she met in town. She's found ways to move further and further away from the city, but her undeath life has still taken some getting used to.
