"The Sunken God could've chosen any seafaring race for its reign of terror, the sahuagin had the misfortune of being the chosen ones," -Filip Vikander, 897, 4th Cycle
Feared by most land-dwelling races in
Pescaliat, in 897 of the 4th Cycle the sahuagin were enslaved by a monstrous deity known as the Sunken God who used their viciousness as a tool in a months-long campaign against the
Elflands and its elven ruling class. With the Sunken God's defeat the sahuagin were shunned from most nations for the atrocities they committed, forced to wander the deepest parts of the ocean. Some believe the sahuagin have a role to play in modern society like the
kuo-toa and
bullywug, but the nature of that role depends on how sahuagin move on from the Sunken God's reign of terror and whether the global community is willing to forgive.
Additional Information
- The largest community of nonviolent sahuagin lives on the coasts of Argenthrix in the blue dragonborn Lotan Conservation. Some nations have objected to Lotan's sheltering of such a violent race, but the community has flourished under the dragonborn's protection as a positive example for the world's sahuagin.
- After the defeat of the Sunken God at the Battle of Kassadeia in 897 thousands of sahuagin were left abandoned in a foreign land with few ways of making it back to their ancestral lands in the ocean. Isolated and desperate, hungry bands of sahuagin have been spotted haunting the riverways of the former Elflands Empire as they hunt for any type of prey in their blood frenzy.
- Legends tell of a large sahuagin city at the bottom of the Karaga Ocean, but none have ventured to this mythic city to confirm the tales or observe sahuagin culture.
