Jungles of Hesso
Although many landmasses have been destroyed during The Ascent, the continent of Hesso survived the event surprisingly intact. The massive amounts roots and vines held it together, and it has stayed the biggest landmass in existance.
Venturing into the jungles that cover the surface of this floating area, many different species of flora and fauna can be found. From birds to ancient lizards, the entire evolutionary chain can be observed here.
With the abundance of animal- and plantlife, explorers have tried to settle on this place for centuries. They however quickly discovered, that its colorfullness and lush vegetation are deceptive. Aside from the obvious giant preditors, much of the dangers of this place come in the form of small yet highly venomous creatures like frogs, spiders and the paralyzing butterflies.
The vegetation on the outside is mostly harmless. Venturing deeper however, one will find an abundance of predatory plants, adapted to the typical size of their prey. As such, one has to be careful when exploring, as one wrong step could lead to a mouth opening underneath or two giant jaws closing in.
Aside from these dangers, some plants have developed special abilties, to hunt smarter prey. These species send out hallucinogenic pheromones, rendering their victims unable to accurately judge the dangers around them, leading to them oftentimes falling into one of the plants acid filled sacks.
The only humanoid life one can find in Hesso, are indiginous tribes. These communites are perfectly adapted to their environment, using what it provides for themselves.
Extracting venoms, scavenging leftovers from the predatory plants and building their houses high up in the trees, the members of these villages make for formidable guides and survivalists.
