The Larisha
A crowd forming at the port and cheerfull music that can be heard from a mile away proceeds the Larisha before it emerges from the clouds. Turning in to anchor, it is always greeted with cheers and applause, as despite the dire situation of some islands and communities, it manages to bring joy to the people that lay their eyes on it and witness its wonders.
Originally a trade ship, a group of free spirited artists, some wealthy, others from simple backgrounds, transformed it into a flying monument of hope. With the vessels colorful sails, its bright blue paintjob and the striking decoration, it promises a brief escape from the trials, the people of Ekkirah have to endure each and every day. The musicians and dancers on board perform plays of heroism and bravery while the magicians use a variety of spells to create a visual spectacle to accompany the stories told on stage.
During its stay, the ports apperance resembles that of a fair. Children playing with toys bought from the vehicles craftsman, adults watching the acrobatic shows in awe, as these performers sometimes seem to defy the laws of nature.
Aside from these shows and the toys, the ships inhabitants offer paintings, books and other forms of creative work for the local population to buy.
While some seek escape from the daily life, some also take to the port with the intention to join the crew, and become part of this beacon of optimisn, in this world that seems to be hellbent to make life miserable in some places. Demonstrating their skills under the watchfull eye of So'luk, the captain of the Larisha, a select few are deemed talented or determined enough to be accepted as new family members.
Before they leave, the artists line up on the side of the ship, thanking the visitors, customers and workers, before bowing and collecting donations. With the promise of a swift return, the anchor is lifted and the sails are hoisted, to bring joy to the next island.
