The Roshrila
The inhabitants of the kingdom of Red, mostly comprised of half-races, value honor and strength above everything else. As such, the inhabitants train in fight for most of their lives, looking to improve themselves and to bring glory to their families on the battlefield.
To prepare for a warriors life, children, male and female, are drilled from a very young age, either practicing on dummies or sparring with each other. This childhood ensures, that each generation grows up to become capable fighters, able to represent their families on the battlefield, either bringing home glory or dying an honorable death. From the age of twenty, they also participate in what's known as the "Roshrhila".
Traveling to the capital, the fighters arrive one day before their birthmonth begins, to start preparing for the ritual. Applying warpaint that mimic Pathfinder Reds wounds when he died, polishing their equipment and praying to their families gods, not to ask for assistance, but to ensure that they witness the bravery that will be displayed the next day.
The following dawn, the arena doors open and the combatants are greeted by a cheering crowd, eager to watch the fighters prove their bravery and abilites in combat. After the crowd calmed down, one of the kings elite soldiers introduces the warriors, and explaining the rules, of which there are few. Death should be avoided, but will not be punished if it was caused accidentally. Once an opponent is clearly unable to continue the fight, they are considered defeated, no matter how much they would complain. Running away from a fight is considered cowardice of the highest order, the individual would be publicly disgraced and exiled.
The ring of a bell would signal the start of the battle, which doesn't end, until none but a single warrior is still standing.
The fortunate soul who wins the Roshrila, will be given a position in the royal elite army, making their birthmonth, the month they were reborn, as a true warrrior.
Taking their earned scars, the rest of the combatants will venture back home and continue training, determined to make their next birthmonth, the month they are reborn into true warriors.
