Railway Caravanist

"You know, it's a thankless work, we do here. Moving stuff from one town to the next and then back again. Always on the lookout for any robber or animal trying to get a quick and easy meal, while we are breaking our backs. Nobody thanks us for it and the pay is meager. Why are will still doing it, I wonder?" the caravanist wondered.
"Because there is nothing better we can do.", growled his companion, "Now, shut up and keep pulling."
Railway Caravanists are dedicated workers who accompany and safeguard goods on the railway between Bealuki and Gunnardstetten in Copperwynn. They often pull the goods using working animals or their own physical strength due to the rarity of steam engines.

Protecting the Cargo

The primary task of Railway Caravanists is to protect the cargo they accompany against robbers, thieves or wildlife. They are expected to defend against attacks, with some companies even hiring mercenaries for added security. Unfortunately due to inadequate pay, most are rather unskilled fighters and the danger of injury or even death is fairly high.   Additionally, magically gifted individuals within their ranks protect the cargo from environmental influences. They will harness their magical abilities to charge cooling crystals used for preserving perishable goods during transportation.
"Well, at least we get to see the world."
"I told you, shut up and pull!"

Perception and Prejudices

Moste people perceive Railway Caravanists as reliable and essential protectors of commerce, an important cultural aspect of Caramizian life. They are viewed as dedicated individuals who ensure the safe delivery of goods, thereby contributing to the smooth flow of trade and supporting the economic well-being of the region.   As tensions between the working class and the companies start to rise, many Railway Caravanist have joined the revolutionary Steelbrethren movement.
"They really should pay us more though. I mean don't they need this stuff for eatin'?"
"For the last time, shut up and .... actually you kind of make a good point."
Some members of the more well-off population perceives the Caravanist's low pay and potential lack of skills as a sign of low skill and little potential. These individuals typically view them as less capable or deserving of recognition, often denying their demands for more recognition and better pay on this basis.
