Porphyra Syrup
Manufacturing
Porphyra Syrup must be distilled down from the sap of the Northern Rock Cane in a careful process. The sap, which is a thick clear substance, must be carefully heated until it turns a dark purple. If it is heated too quickly it will clump into a bitter and unusable paste. Too slowly and it won't reach the right color and consistency needed for it to mix with the added clear alcohol. The alcohol is necessary to make it a swallowable liquid. Without the alcohol the sap coats a person's airway, leading to choking if they are too feeble to cough it back up.
Once heated properly, the alcohol is added slowly, fulling incorporating a little at a time until the amount needed(~2:1 ratio) is added.
It is then allowed to cool slightly before it is put into small bottles. Each bottle is enough to cure even the worse Fever of a single person, with doses spread 4 hours apart.

Discovery
The Porphyra Syrup in its current form was created by Royal healers after the Royal Fever outbreak in 1345. Using the research gathered under the command of the late Queen Katina they were able to make a tincture much more refined than the hastily made cure in the chaos of the outbreak. Made with the Northern Rock Cane The easier to ustilied but less potent leaves were used as an initial cure before its sap was able to be rendered.
