Henri Rousseau (ahn-REE roo-SOH)

A Brief Encounter

Henri Rousseau emerged as a pillar of resilience amidst the fraught atmosphere of occupied Paris. Born in 1905, he came of age during the interwar years, a time of artistic flourish and political unrest. As war once again engulfed Europe, Henri channeled his fervor for freedom into the clandestine operations of the resistance.   At 35, Henri's leadership within the resistance was as poetic as it was strategic, his words inspiring action and his plans always one step ahead of the enemy. His close escape on the morning of June 16th, 1940, was a testament to his quick thinking and the unbreakable camaraderie that defined the movement. In the face of adversity, Henri's spirit was indomitable, his will to continue the fight unshaken.
