Hunahpu, affectionately called Poo, is renowned in Tir na nOg for his exceptional skills as a glasswright, creating delicate and intricate glass pieces that captivate and inspire. His artistry, however, is deeply rooted in his legendary past. Alongside his twin brother, Xbalanque, Hunahpu is celebrated as one of the Hero Twins from the ancient legend.
The twins were conceived by a maiden who was touched by the skull of their decapitated father. Born with supernatural powers, Hunahpu and Xbalanque embarked on a quest to avenge their father's death at the hands of the lords of the underworld. They faced numerous challenges and traps, ultimately triumphing over the underworld lords through wit and bravery. Hunahpu, known for his agility and intelligence, played a crucial role in these adventures, which included defeating the vain Seven Macaw and successfully navigating the perilous underworld ballgames.
In Tir na nOg, Hunahpu's legendary past informs his current pursuits, blending his rich heritage with the peace and creativity of his new home. His glass creations often reflect the intricate stories and symbols from his mythic journeys, bridging the ancient with the contemporary. Through his art, Hunahpu continues to honor his past while contributing to the beauty and harmony of Tir na nOg.
