Breac's guild report - 0.6.22 agf

Fjionburg

A team of guild members were sent by Breac Sunfist north of the Dead Isle, far behind Jae'Kalan's lines to the east edge of the desert, to an old empire port called Fjionburg. There, they were assured, would be a person of interest. Their goal was to update this person on current events regarding the siege of the Temple of the Silent Queen in the hope he might take more direct action.

The old port was in ruin, with only a shanty shack built out of the wreckage. As the party approached, someone inside the shack shot at them with some form of magic, as they succeeded in disabling some clumsy tripwires but stumbled into a more deceptive trap - a large bush with leaves dusted with Fireball fungus. Showing restraint, they talked down the shack's inhabitant, who identified himself only as Elgar. He was a gold dragon, who's daughter Tari had fallen in love with Emperor Jae'Kalan V, only for Jae'Kalan to take her heart as his phylactery to achieve immortality. After the Great Rebuke, the heart and Jae'Kalan were imprisoned in the Guild Hall to attempt to give Tari a normal life. During Guildfall, Tari was killed, Jae'Kalan escaped and the heart was destroyed.

After Elgar assured the party nothing would convince him to fight Jae'Kalan on behalf of mortalkind, a Death Knight and an apprentice of Jae'Kalan arrived to lay siege to the shack. Despite the dark wizard successfully casting Dominate Monster on Elgar, the party was able to disrupt his spellcasting and control the situation, ultimately defeating the Death Knight with a casting of 'Toonbeam' (a modified Moonbeam).

A mindstone slipped by Breac into the pockets of one of the adventurers activated as they conversed again with Elgar, revealing a scene of Tari playing with Miko Tanner in the tavern, and Elgar confessed he'd been so wrapped up in his grief at Tari's death he had forgotten to ask if Miko was even still alive. Ashamed at his hypocrisy, he agreed to at least accompany the party back to the guild hall.
