Whether that's gatherin’ resources, establishin’ connections and trade routes, craftin’ items or runnin’ a shop, there's many such ways you can pursue greatness! Read on to find out more!!

Overview

Downtime is simply where a character interacts with the world between sessions. Every player gets one downtime activity per week that they can use for various pastimes, Some activities may require more than one downtime unit, meaning you could either work on it yourself over multiple weeks, or recruit other adventurers alongside you! These activities include (but are not limited to) material/resource gathering, crafting, exploring, research and spell crafting. The average amount of resources able to be acquired is based on the equivalent value of half the average quest payout for the current phase. The relative success of your downtime activity is determined by the roll of a D100 with the following results:

Roll Outcome
1-10
Critical Failure
11-30
Under-succeeded
31-70
Average Success
71-90
Excellent Result
91-100
Amazing Success

Crafting items is an activity reserved for shops. If there is a particular item you are after, enquire at the relevant shop for a request or if they can guide you through the process! The rules for crafting can be found in the Player Shops section below! As downtime can only be done when you are not out questing, all downtime rolls for the week are to be conducted between Tuesday and Sunday. Downtime activities not associated with a particular shop will occur in the Tomfoolery Inn, located within Market Square. Keep your eye on the noticeboard there for any particular requests or pursue your own! Just remember to tag a Chief Merchant when you want to conduct your downtime activity so that they can guide you through the process and dictate the outcome!

Y’all adventurers sure do keep ya’selves busy huh! Slow down your canter and grab a drink from the waterin’ hole while you’re at the Inn!

Player Shops

The gathering and crafting of resources can be turned into profit through the use of player shops! Anyone can open a shop by following the guide below to provide numerous services to the Guild. The Guild itself will sponsor and support shops through starting inventory, access to basic supplies and an assigned Chief Merchant to help you in your financial endeavors, though keep in mind, if it is a service that already exists the Guild may be less likely to help with finances! We encourage creativity and diversity in shop fronts, being through different specialities or alternate forms of business entirely! A shop owner is responsible for their own pricing - so judge accordingly so you can turn a profit while still being approachable to customers! Any questions please feel free to reach out to our friendly Chief Merchants! Most shops will be selling items that they have crafted themselves! Crafting times are determined by item rarity, as outlined in the table below. As the season progresses and the merchants acquire more skills, the table may change to reflect such. An announcement will be made if this occurs.

Do keep in mind that multiple Downtime Units could mean it takes one crafter multiple weeks, or multiple crafters one week - so having multiple people working under one shop is of great benefit!

As a business expert myself, I’m happy to lend my expertise to all those in need! What experience you ask? I’ve managed to clear out so many of those pesky yellow rocks since opening shop ‘ere, I’m very successful. Coins? What are those?

Starting a shop

The process of starting a shop is super easy! Come up with an idea or enquire with the Guild for any services that are required. It helps if you can tie the idea/theming in with your character, but not necessary! Once you have your idea, think about what you want to achieve in your shop. What would a week in Downtime look like and what would an average transaction be. With both those things in hand - shoot Cass (quorraroo) a DM on Discord and it’ll look it over! Cass will give you any pointers if anything is needed to be tidied up or refined and then will set you up with a Chief Merchant to oversee your shop and provide you with support! Come up with a name and logo and your shop will be opened up in Market Square! Your Chief Merchant will run you through rolls for your starting stock and will give you a template for crafting. Once that's all done, you’re ready to start selling!

Phew…that was a big read! Hopefully that covers everything regarding shops and downtime. I’m not fully sure what the Guild was thinkingby puttin’ this li’l birdy in charge of shops, but I guess they just recognise true economical talent when they see it. I cannot wait to establish more business connections with you all! Phallon out!!
