Glendale Guild report 9 - 0.1.18
General Summary
Which Witch of Glendale
As Glendale's political tensions rise amidst its elections, the Little Warriors Guild travelled to search for a missing Wizard, Thim-Zeth, who is a member of the Guild as well as oversee the election took place smoothly whilst there. It quickly became apparent that one of the candidates Thomas Dunford was suspicious and clearly an arcane magic user - something very rare and looked upon with suspicion in the town. On further inspection and the smell of blood being detected within the house, the party raised the alarm with incumbent Mayor Oric and his guards, alongside another candidate Danika Willowfate. Oric had his guards raid the house to investigate and with them the party discovered a bag of hexes, revealing the work of a Hag at play.
Realizing the potential danger the town may be facing and identifying Danika as a hag trying to lead their investigation astray on a wild goose chase with an illusory book, the party went to raise the alarm with the local chapel, however to their shock they witnessed Thomas Dunford marching on the local courthouse with a crowd of townsfolk in a lynchmob, angry over his home being raided in a viewed conflict of interest by Oric and his town guards leading up to the election. A third candidate by the name of Glenda Harding in turn tried to talk the mob down to appear as a voice of reason, only for the party in turn to realize they were also a hag, and that they were dealing with a coven. In order to state their case and prove themselves and prevent a riot, the party offered to chair a public debate at the courthouse between the Mayoral candidates, and then used the Command spell to compel Glenda into exposing herself for what she is. Thus, Sister Powderknee, Sister Spiteteeth and Sister Stewcrinkle dropped their disguises and polymorphs on themselves. Unfortunately, the party had inadvertently gathered the entire town together in the courthouse, and realized their mistake when it came to Hag's who as creatures are notorious for loving sowing chaos for the fun of it. The hags proceeded to start attacking the crowd, guard and party indiscriminately as the Courthouse turned into a slaughterhouse, with the entirety of Glendale's town guard being wiped out with a lightning bolt and numerous civilians dying in the ensuing stampede. Nevertheless, the party managed to save Oric from being murdered by the coven and eliminate the Hags, but not before nearly a dozen civilians had died in the stampede and chaos and over a dozen town guards had been fried. In the ensuing clean up, the coven's lair was uncovered and the bodies of the real Thomas Dunford, Danika Willowfate and Glenda Harding were located. Thim-zeth was found alive but will take some time to recover from their ordeal, having narrowly avoided becoming stew. Oric owes his life to the Guild now, but with the claws from the Empire not far away and eager to reclaim their escaped slaves that make up the townsfolk of Glendale, and plenty of monsters that may yet be on the town's frontier, will the upstart town survive much longer now that its town guard has been eliminated?
