Guild report from Frostpine Village - 0.2.30

Wolves of Frostpine

The guild received an urgent summons from the elder of Frostpine Village for help to deal with odd looking wolves around their village; the elder had heard of the guild through their trade contract with Shimmerbeard Hold. On the way to the village the group ran into seven bandits being chased through a forest clearing by three dire wolves and a winter wolf. The group engaged and successfully defeated the pack.

Upon reaching their destination the group noticed that the villagers were trying to construct walls around Frostpine Village. They were directed to the elder’s home where Elder Rolan explained their situation. At first odd looking wolves were seen prowling around the outskirts of their village border. Unfortunately, in the time it took for the request to reach the guild, and for Tulson, Slatemaw, Zahariel, Teegath, and Price to arrive, the situation had become more severe. The wolves had grown in number and there had been reports of missing equipment and people from the village.

Through questioning villagers and the village elder, the group ended up tracking the wolves and fought two packs with dire wolves and winter wolves; taking unique trophies from their battles. One of their fights helped a woman named Lianna who lived just south of the village. Lianna informed them that she had seen bandits working with wolves in the last few weeks. She even warned them that if they hunt these beasts down, they’ll need all the help they can get as she saw a creature that was more demonic than it was canine. The group ended up finding their way to a camp east of the village run by a man called Aldon who was trying to setup his own headquarters, after being kicked out of the Law-Down Thieves Guild, near Frostpine Village. He called his group of mercenaries the Lupine Marauders.

It turned out that Aldon was using some kind of amulet to control a huge, mutated, Winter Wolf who in turn was affecting the wolves in the surrounding area; drawing them in and making them more aggressive. The group defeated Aldon and most of the Lupine Marauders but weren’t able to recover Aldon’s amulet or learn his secrets. Unfortunately, one ranger managed to slip away in the fight, but the rest were defeated. Elder Rolan was delighted and rewarded the adventurers for their work.
