Jinx Velvetpaw

Jinx grew up with her family in a fishing village on a small island. This island was the territory of a kingdom on a much larger island nearby, something Jinx wasn’t fond of. Her community was very tight knit, everyone knew eachother and she never saw any outsiders aside from the occasional merchant or sailor or the kingdom’s tax collector, who she hated. It wasn't the worst place to grow up in but Jinx desperately wanted to leave. She didn't want to live in the same place all the time, she wanted to go out and explore the world. But Jinx didn't want to be an ordinary sailor, sure being out on the sea would be fun but she wanted something more. Jinx would constantly get up to mischief, pulling pranks on the boring village elders and occasionally swiping trinkets or knicknacks (and maybe a bit of gold but if no one saw her do it, can you really say it was jinx who stole it?) from the village shopkeeper or the merchants (and the tax collector because he sucks). Whenever sailors visited the village she'd constantly listen to their stories about the world, and they were interesting, but there was one thing in particular that sparked her interest. Pirates. Daring adventurers of the sea, free to do what they wanted without a care about what the laws said or the governments thought. And among the stories of pirates she heard about this mysterious, almost mythical treasure that no one has ever been able to find, most sailors and pirates don’t even believe it exists, They think just some fairy tale told to fresh pirates. She vowed that she was going to be the one to find this treasure. It gave the sailors a good laugh, but she wasn’t joking. She was gonna find this treasure and become a great pirate one day.

Whenever she told her family about her dreams of becoming a pirate they'd immediately shut her down. "Pirates are no-good troublemakers" They would say , "They're rotten criminals who don't care about anyone other than themselves." Her village had a few run-ins with some not-so-great pirates a few times but Jinx didn't want to be like that. She knew not all pirates were bad, she'd even heard stories from sailors about how they'd been helped by pirates. Jinx was set on her dream. So when the time came and she was finally old enough, she set out to work on one of the sailor's ships until she had enough money to get her own ship.

After a few years she finally managed to buy her first ship at 18. It wasn't very big but it was a start. But she wasn't a pirate until she had a crew. After many failed attempts to get a crewmember she was beginning to lose hope, until one day when her ship was attacked by another group of pirates and she was taken as their prisoner. While captured she met another prisoner, a Leonin barbarian named Valkyra and they planned their escape. Jinx had been thrown in jail a few times and by the looks of the cages the locks were pretty worn so that night after their captors were passed out drunk from partying, Jinx, along with Valkyra made it back to her ship, after stopping to loot the other pirates of all their stashed treasure of course. As thanks for freeing her, Valkyra agreed to join Jinx's crew as her first mate. After a year or two she gathered up more crewmates and made a name for herself as Captain Jinx Velvetpaw of the Velvetpaw Pirates. Her crew became her family and she would do anything for them.

Jinx is a cunning pirate who loves freedom and adventure and while she's good natured, sometimes her actions get her on the government's bad side more often than not. Throughout her adventures she heard of the guild and its members, with one member, a Tiefling by the name of Navali even briefly joining the crew for a short period of time. After hearing about what happened to the guild Jinx and the rest of her crew decided to officially join and lend their aid where needed in an effort to help rebuild.

Jinx is a Tabaxi Rogue Swashbuckler with a pirate background. She's very short but she makes up for it with her loud personality and her wits. Don't be fooled by her appearance, she may look cute but if you cross her you might lose an eye. She’s got an eyepatch covering her left eye that she originally had because it made her look tough but then she did actually lose her eye, so it came in handy. She’s got light orange fur with faded stripes of a darker orange. Her eyes (or more accurately, eye) are a striking emerald green. She has a deep red scar on her left paw that she got in her first ever proper fight which earned her the name Velvetpaw.

At the guild you can usually find her at the bar, enjoying the music and a pint (or more) of ale, telling tales of her adventures at sea
