June Woodshimmer

“Be kind. Be brave. Be true… well as true as one can be in the land of fey. For you see, June isn’t even my real name.”

As a child, June attuned to the frost of winter. Her skin became the colour of ice and her hair glistened like snowflakes. Despite her cool appearance, she had a kind smile and a positive spirit unlike many of her brethren of the Feywilds. While they saw the sadness and sorrow in the frozen lakes and the snow covered branches, June saw the beauty and not once ever let that coldness pierce her heart.

One cold Winter, June collected the first drops of snowflakes and weaved them into sparkling charms (They would melt on the first sprouts of Spring but she loved making them nevertheless). Her journey was paused when she heard a painful cry from the woods. Following the sound she found an injured Fey. A young one caught in the dangerous traps of these lands. ‘Leave them,’ her upbringing warned. The Fey were tricksters and even towards ones like June who lived and breathed these lands. And yet, June defied instincts and freed the young Fey from their trap. Once freed, the Fey did not attack, did not lure June with spells and charms or even run away. They simply stared. June with her still young heart offered the Fey one of her snowflake charms—an offer of friendship. The moment the charm fell into the hands of the young Fey, their form shifted and changed revealing them to be no weakling but a powerful Archfey of beauty and grace.

The Archfey commended June’s kindness as many wouldn’t have even followed her cries. She offered June a deal. The Archfey offered June great magic and a portal to the Material Plane where she could explore the world and spread kindnes and in exchange all the Archfey wanted was memories. Memories that could not be found within the Feywilds. Memories of love and loss, happiness and sadness—memories of life. Having no attachment to her family or the lands that she never quite felt a part of, June accepted.

But first, June trained. Not wanting the world to swallow her whole, the Archfey trained the young elf in magic, taught her languages and histories and when she was ready, she departed the Feywilds and began her new adventure, granting herself the mortal name “June”. Eventually, she found her way to the Guild where she could not only help many people but also hear many stories. She can always be found with a book in her hands and her fingers stained with ink.
