Lake Starfall
When merchants from Tokmor visit the western states and Tanquary locals point out to them the largest lake in the world, the Tokmorians smile and nod. They know their hosts are technically correct. They also know - most of them being of elven blood, and thus having lived plenty long enough to see this acted out a great many times - that any of their hosts who travel east will stop and stare for a full minute when cresting the last of the Dalga Hills to view the great crater-lake of Tokmor.
It truly is impossible to convey the scale of Lake Starfall and the basin it sits in. It was formed when a meteor fell into the vast wetland that used to convey all the winter melt from the north through to the Black Ocean. The impact was sufficient to split the world's crust, creating the volcanic island in the centre. The north no longer melts as dramatically as it used to, so Lake Starfall runs relatively shallow compared to the lands of Tanquary. The water here is heavy in its mineral content but thankfully devoid of the worst of the toxic salts found in the north, having been purified by running through the underground channels of the Osten Tablelands.
Starfall water is considered to be a light medicine and is exported to Tanquary as a luxury. This occurs much to the annoyance of those living in the southern desert, who argue that water merchants waste much of the resource and interfere with the natural flows through the Starfall River to the south.
