The Girl that Fled

My interest was recently piqued by tha stories some adventurers were talking about afta their return from the small town of Rilto. I do want ta document all that went on as I believe it may become relevant very soon. Not that I have any information regarding these matters… Lets just call it a, uh, premonition.

Now from what I heard, the guild received a request to look inta a missin child. Her parents had been gettin a wee bit concerned after she had been missin for 2 weeks and claimed somethin foul was a’ play. The adventurers I spoke to seemed ta think tha’ this girl ran away of her own accord, tha’ she was maybe a li’l unhappy in her home life. She had hidden collections of fantasy novels and a secret sketch book of herself as a hero, though her parents insisted she was an academic and no more. I don’ think its on me to comment on anyones parenting style so lets just leave that one there. The sketch book of the girl, Anna I think her name was, seemed to lose coherency towards tha end. Her drawings became depressive and isolated and finished in scrawled messy druidic and the design of a wand.

Following her tracks, the adventurers discovered a weird lookin cave, definitely not natural. Anna was at tha bottom and seemed excited to see what she referred to as “worthy adversaries”. She acted like a character out of one of those fantasy novels, trying to make a grandiose speech and declaring the adventurers as her fated rivals. It become obvious very quickly however, that though she did possess magical powers, they were not her own and were the gifts of an unknown entity who had other ideas for her. This being took over her body, claiming to be rebirthed on the earth and told the party to spread the word that “the Ancient” was bringing in a new world. The possessed girl vanished in a flash of fire, leaving the adventurers in a morphing cave, with disturbingly mutated creatures emerging.

Surviving the encounter, the party made their way back to the guild, to report on what they had found.

If this Ancient is as powerful as they are suggestin’, this matter will certainly need ta be looked in to. I plan on following up on it myself soon enough.
